Mardi Himal Trek

Mardi Himal fits travellers who want a shorter mountain journey without treating altitude casually. The walking days, lodge stops, and viewpoint attempt can be adjusted around experience and conditions.

Why this journey

A compact Annapurna-region trek through forest and open ridge country, with close views of Machhapuchhre when skies are clear.

Active travellers with limited time who are comfortable with consecutive walking days, steep trail sections, and simple lodges.

Golden morning light over Himalayan peaks from Badal Danda
  • A fast transition from Pokhara to quiet forest trails
  • Ridge walking with dramatic mountain perspective
  • A flexible high-point based on weather and wellbeing
  • A shorter alternative to longer Annapurna routes

Day by day

A realistic planning framework

The final programme is confirmed against dates, transport, traveller readiness, and current local conditions.

  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu to Pokhara

Travel by road or air, meet the trekking team, and complete a focused gear and weather check.

  2. Day 2

    Trailhead to Forest Camp

Drive to the selected trailhead and begin through mixed forest to a simple mountain lodge.

  3. Day 3

    Forest Camp to Low Camp

Continue gradually upward as the forest begins to open and the ridge becomes more prominent.

  4. Day 4

    Low Camp to High Camp

Follow the ridge at a measured pace, allowing time to rest and adapt at the higher lodge.

  5. Day 5

    Viewpoint day

Make an early, weather-dependent walk toward the viewpoint, then return to a safer sleeping altitude.

  6. Day 6

    Descend to Sidhing · Pokhara

Walk down through changing vegetation, meet the vehicle, and return to Pokhara for a comfortable night.

  7. Day 7

    Return or extend

Travel back to Kathmandu or add recovery time and sightseeing in Pokhara.

If your schedule allows

Worth adding around Mardi Himal Trek

Have an extra half-day or day? Ask us whether one of these worthwhile additions can fit without making the main journey rushed. They are suggestions, not automatic package inclusions.

Pokhara

World Peace Pagoda

Add a hilltop viewpoint before or after the trek when energy, visibility, and transfer time allow.

Pokhara Valley

Begnas Lake

Choose this quieter lakeside half-day when you have recovery time away from central Lakeside.

Trailhead area

Australian Camp and Dhampus

These villages can complement selected trailhead or return routes without changing the upper trek.

Annapurna foothills

Ghandruk extension

With another night, add this Gurung village as a genuine route extension rather than a quick detour.

Plan it realistically: Schedule these before or after the high trail according to energy, weather, and transport. Ghandruk needs its own route and extra night; it should not be inserted into the upper Mardi days.
